MUFE Matte Velvet Powder Foundation

So, I've been an avid user of Makeup Forever Products in my professional kit for over 10 years. I've seen them evolve their products from mostly PRO to now catering to consumers as well. As a Pro they have always been my go-to brand, now as a consumer i love them even more.

The HD line has become probably one of the most flawless and versatile products on the market, for both pro and consumer. I have always been very picky about powder foundations. My favorite and GO-TO for my powder foundation was Tarte's Confidence creamy powder foundation, but it was discontinued. I love Tarte products; however, they always seem to fall a little short when relaunching something to replace what was discontinued. When they came out with Face Tape Powder foundation, it was NOTHING like the Double Duty Beauty Confidence Cream Powder. I was so disappointed because I REALLY wanted to like it. I love the Amazonian clay products, but unfortunately, I was let down. Which lead me to go back to my Makeup Forever Pro-Finish Powder Foundation (that you could use wet or dry :D).

So, when I was browsing at the Makeup Forever store a few months ago, trying to get my Pro Finish powder replaced, the artist told me they were out of my color because they were discontinuing it! I was pretty devastated until she said they are coming out with a new powder called MATTE VELVET SKIN BLURRING POWDER FOUNDATION that was even better. She said it would be replacing the DUO MAT & the Pro-Finish combined and was set to release in March.

Long story short, the release was delayed until May. When I seen that it was new on the website, I decided to hit up the MUFE store and check it out. I usually like to be left be and just have the artists grab a color for me when I choose one, but at MUFE, they really know their sh** so I really love getting info from them and take their suggestions. Now let me just say I was almost prepared for disappointment, mostly because I just didn’t want to love the idea of it, then be let down. The artist used a Kabuki brush and when she was done I was floored. You would swear I didn’t have anything on because the color match was so spot on and the coverage was so lightweight but evened me out so well. I was extremely impressed. I loved everything about it, from the shades, to the construction of the packaging and the fact that it comes with a double sided sponge with a velvet side for a more blurred sheer coverage (my preferred method)

I picked up some HD corrector concealer that is new to me (I normally use Tarte’s rainforest of the sea aqua concealer) and I was also really happy with that, (way better than shape tape IMO.. SHOCKER, I know). Also as someone that has pretty much every brand of liquid lipstick, MUFE’s is the most superior formula I’ve ever tried, it’s not drying on the lips nor does it transfer at all. I chose shade 403 (a gorgeous deep blue red), 405 (deep brick red), and 304 (coral). I pair all of them with the Artist Color Pencils. (super creamy but long wearing!) The only complaint I have, is I wish they had more nude shades, the ones they have do not have many middle-grade colors and make very big jumps in shade. The one I had purchased originally, 109 dried very grey ish, not at all what I expected.

Anyway, another thing I loved about the Matte Velvet Powder Foundation, is that its magnetic so you can pop the shade out and put it into a magnetic case to use for your Pro kit! (Definitely plan on making that purchase soon for my entire kit)

So, the verdict is…. I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THESE PRODUCTS!!! Especially for those with combo/oily skin.

If you have dry skin, I’d just make sure to hydrate the skin with a moisturizer and a hydrating primer.
